MIDAS SAFETY UNVEILS GLASS AND METAL-FREE GLOVE WHICH COMBINES UNMATCHED COMFORT AND FLEXIBILITY WITH HIGH CUT RESISTANCE

February 3rd, 2025

The glass and metal-free composition of the PU GMF Glove FA6 provides exceptional hand protection with an ultra-high cut resistance level of F/A6

Toronto, Canada, 03 February 2025 — Midas Safety has launched the PU GMF Glove FA6 – a new glass and metal-free glove that combines unmatched ultra-high cut resistance with exceptional comfort to safeguard its wearers in the most demanding industrial environments.

The glove achieves a cut resistance level of EN ISO level F and an A6, in accordance with the ASTM F2992 standard. In doing so, it becomes the premium cut-resistant option within the Midas Safety GMF range and exceeds the capabilities of the existing DA4 cut glove.

The PU GMF Glove FA6 is made with a unique blend of enhanced HPPE, Nylon, and Spandex, eliminating the need for steel or glass to achieve high cut protection. The glove has a smooth surface finish which conforms to the hand, giving it a soft and comfortable feel that enhances dexterity and reduces fatigue over extended periods. It also features a reinforced thumb crotch that extends durability.

The glass and metal-free composition eliminates the risk of exposed glass particles or steel filaments caused by wear and tear, resulting in skin irritation. The lack of harsh fibres means no particle shedding or debris, which prevents contamination and damage to the products being handled.

“Our new PU GMF Glove FA6 is a user-centric design that prioritizes comfort and safety,” says Suman Sabharwal, Senior Product Manager at Midas Safety. “It is flexible and breathable, providing excellent wearability in the most demanding environments. Meanwhile, the glass and metal-free material provides exemplary cut resistance, with the glove containing no abrasive fibres that can break or begin to fray over time, causing discomfort and skin irritations.”

The PU GMF Glove FA6 is suitable for a broad range of applications, including glass and metal sheet handling, automotive repairs and maintenance, construction and plumbing. Additionally, it provides enhanced safety protection for applications such as battery cell manufacturing, with the lack of metal fibres eliminating the risk of electrical conductivity.

Reflecting on the introduction of the PU GMF Glove FA6, Kashif Ali, Director of Product Management and Marketing at Midas Safety, added: “As part of our metal and glass-free range, this glove not only reinforces our commitment to cutting-edge research and development but also signals the ongoing evolution of our product line.

“We are already exploring uncharted avenues to expand and enhance cut protection levels further and to refine the glove’s gauge, ensuring that our customers always have access to the most advanced protective solutions.”
